Vedanta ka anth..or is it???


For the first time, the environmental concerns in India seem to be taking the limelight.

Thanks to Mr. Jairam Ramesh for the first time we are seeing a stall to the major projects that have been flouting the environmental norms for decades.

To begin with, Vedanta's very infamous alumnium smelter in Orissa may take a hit. Followed by the hydro projects of Lohari Nagpala and the one on Bhagirathi.

Hopefully it will be a big blow to Vedanta's expansion plans...but the interesting part is just when the announcement of Vedanta's environmental concerns are about to be blown out of proportion, Vedanta announced its acquisition of Cairn. I guess, Vedanta already got a hint of the result and hence was planning to get away from there.

I guess, Vedanta got tired of exploiting lush green forests, so it has targetted the vast desert!!

I just pray that the group gets blown away by some sand storm.

As the saying goes, the faster you rise the faster you fall...Considering the fact that Vedanta grew 50 times in the past one year, I just hope it falls at an equally or a faster pace..It is pay back time. Amen!!

Caste & misinterpretation of religious scriptures!

This is an article, which I thought of writing long ago, nevertheless it took me so long to shed my laziness. I was watching this documentary, which was about the ill effects of castism in India. THough the religious aspect of that is the one that I wouldn't appreciate, the things about the barbaric acts against different castes makes you wonder if the system is really worth it. A lady is raped and her husband killed because she stood and won the elections against an opponent who belongs to upper caste. Children who are around 5-10 years of age are taught about castes and the thoughts are inculcated into their minds. Those innocent minds aren't even aware that they are following an act which may lead them nowhere. They are aware of one thing, that, people of lower caste carry need to be shed off. Acquittal

An enticing article written by Arundhati Roy in Outlook on Prof. Saibaba http://www.outlookindia.com/article/professor-pow/294265 Isn't it ironical that it's been an year that the person mentioned above has been in prison without bail and no charge sheet, whereas our beloved Salman Khan and of course the goddess of many, Ms. jayalalita are acquitted .. (Yeah, I got it .. Salman Khan isn't acquitted, but do you think he won't be!!) Oh, I forgot! Mr. Ramalingaraju is released on bail. ok, I will stop. I will not go down that route. I have no idea about Prof. Sai baba, but the way he is kept under prison is something that questions our ethos. But I also felt sad that I cannot stand up to him. I am also one amongst the millions, living and eventually dying in vain. I shouldn't be acquitted on my unbecoming attitude!!
